Let Grok use Calendar & Reminders (and what to Allow)
A free checklist for tired humans who want Grok to help run the day โ without handing it everything at once.
Based on public reporting of the Oct 22, 2026 Grok Bot phone-app rollout (Digital Trends): rolling out on iOS and Android, and each app has its own Allow button. Rollout may not have reached your phone yet. Not an official guide.
What each Allow does
| App | What Grok can do |
|---|---|
| ๐ Calendar | See your day, add events |
| โฐ Reminders | Set reminders and check them |
| ๐ค Contacts | Find or add a contact |
| ๐ฌ Messages | Read and send messages โ only Allow if you actually want this |
| ๐ Location | Find places near you |
| ๐ Home | Lights/locks via your phone's Home app โ see the lights page |
Starter Allows for low-energy parents
- Calendar + Reminders first. Biggest help, lowest risk: "What's on tomorrow?" "Remind me at 3 to pack the gym bag."
- Add Contacts or Location later if you find yourself wanting them.
- Skip Messages until you trust it.
How to Allow (and undo)
- Ask Grok to do the thing ("Add dentist Tuesday 4pm").
- When it asks to use that app, tap Allow for that app only.
- Changed your mind? Turn it off in your phone's settings. The exact Settings path differs by phone and OS version โ check yours (usually under the Grok app's permissions or Privacy).
